Next Steps was established to give the students the very best in Alternative Provision. It is my privilege to lead a team of highly trained and dedicated staff whose aim is to ensure that all our students experience an educational journey that is positive and enriching. Many of our students have found it difficult in mainstream schools but develop a new attitude towards education at our centre.

We operate our centre on 8 basic principles: respect, honesty, resilience, integrity, compliance, hard-working, ambition and motivation. We share and constantly reinforce these principles with the students as a way of life.

We offer a rigorous curriculum and a broad enrichment programme, and our staff work tirelessly to support and nurture our students’ talents. We believe that all our students can achieve excellence and that they deserve the very best in order to reach their potential. Our caring environment values achievement and we insist on tolerance and mutual respect.

We provide high quality curriculum that supports individual needs and acceleration, a regular and robust assessment process, high quality enrichment activities, educational events. We also encourage pupils to take leadership roles within our community.

 

Our focus has remained on supporting young people aged 10-18 years old. At the present-day Next Steps now operates provision from 8 training arches in Burton upon Trent.

 

Our Apprenticeship programs and other employer led services see us delivering education further afield. In addition, our staffing has also grown significantly, in 2015 we employed around 20 staff. Our program delivery now includes; 16-18 Study Programs, Traineeships and Apprenticeships, 14-16 School alternative Provision and Apprenticeships.

 

We offer NOCN Math’s, English and ICT training as part of our courses and deliver vocational training in the following; Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Plumbing, Plastering, Warehousing, Retail, Sales, Hospitality, Customer Service, Business Administration, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Motor Vehicle.
